New (or newer) dancers that dance all summer after “graduation” tend to stick with the activity. Those that don’t dance fade away along with the skills they didn’t keep sharp.
What activities do you have planned for new Square Dance graduates?
If you live in (or near) Washington state, please make a point of coming to the Circle 8 Ranch for (at least) one weekend of square dancing. My good (great!) friend Susan Morris and I put together a weekend designed for the new (or newer dancer) that is engaged and wants/needs floor time.
Susan and I don’t teach anything new. We just use the program lists to reinforce what dancers spent the past 6-9 months learning.
It’s a campground but there are hotels close to Cle Elum.
If you don’t live in Washington state and you have a campground or something like it near you, I’d love to hear about it. My wife, Laura, and I are always looking for reasons to take a “road trip.”
If you don’t know about Circle 8, here’s its website:
Please send me a note if you have any questions. I’d love to see you there. It’s one of my favorite places on the planet.
